What can I expect the first time I visit?
You get a special parking space and a warm greeting. After the service you'll be given a "visitor packet" with a video, reading materials, a pen, a magnetic notepad, and even a frisbee.
We have spaces marked "Visitors" at the front of our parking lot. Our photo "tour" page shows you things a visitor would see.
Please come in the front door, which is pictured in the building tour. Our Greeter will make you a name tag and ask you to sign our guest book. (Members wear name tags too, but they are permanent ones.) You can ask to receive our newsletter, if you like.
If you have children, someone will show you the room we use for children's religious education classes.
During the service we will pass the donation plates. Our last minister liked to ask new visitors to let the plate pass them by. If you'd like to give, we'll be happy to have it but it is not a requirement. Unlike some other churches, no one will judge you for not giving.
We stand for hymns and responsive readings. The minister or service leader will always ask the congregation to stand and to be seated. It is also noted in every order of service. You don't have to worry about knowing when to stand or sit. We don't genuflect. We don't kneel to pray. You can sit towards the back, watch what other people do, and fit right in.
After the end of the service we serve refreshments and talk. Someone will probably ask you where you are from, if you've been here in the area long, and what drew you to our congregation. That is our attempt to be friendly, not an inquisition. The webmaster, if present, will ask you if you found us online, where exactly "online" was. This helps her to know what she's doing right. We're not pushy. No one will ask you to join the first time you visit.
